Hi, friends! Here's a quick update from the past two months. We are so thankful for your friendship and especially for those of you who pray for us!
Dinu and Candy
Well, serious struggles have surfaced in the lives of a few of our volunteers recently. These situations have caused us to search the Word and the heart of the Father to meet their needs. We have prayed with them and for them more than ever before. The more we invest in each one, the more our love for them grows.
With less than two months before our trip to the States, we are taking and making extra time to speak the Word into all the volunteers' lives. God has also been reminding us to speak the Word OVER them. That privilege and responsibility is something we won't run out of time for because we can do it no matter where we are!
The first few verses of Genesis describe the earth before God spoke creation. It was formless (chaotic), empty, and covered in darkness. None of that detoured God from His objective- He said, "Light be!" That is enough inspiration for us to speak God's Word with God's faith into and over the lives of, not only our young people, but our partners, our family and ourselves.
In addition to our typical schedule for the past two months (including 8 Bible studies, 2 family dinners, 2 Guys Nights, 2 Girls' Nights, lots of one on one meetings and various weekly ministry in all four of the Children's Homes we work with), we also had our three day winter Volunteer Retreat where we focused on practical things like how to study and confess Scripture in prayer. And, Dinu held the first two of a series of special meetings with our young men to help them develop lifestyles of victory in the face sexual temptation.
We have enjoyed a few opportunities to preach and teach in local churches since January as well. (It's refreshing for us to share God's Word in a new or different environment and to people at various stages in their walk with Christ.)
Last week, we spent three days at Dinu's parents' house in the village with the other four staff members. It gave us quality time together in a tranquil setting to clarify our purpose, re-center our hearts on the vision God has given us and plan our next quarter. Of course, Marie and Sarah had a blast too- playing in the rain, seeing the baby lambs and catching a great dose of sunshine on a hike through some nearby hills!
